KMG PetroChem LLP together with Sibur arranged a visit of the Kazakh delegation to the R&D center for development and testing of polymer products SIBUR PolyLab in Skolkovo.

Sibur PolyLab was visited by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Silleno LLP, KPI LLP and the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the visit they discussed opportunities for cooperation in Research and Development (R&D) aimed at the growth of the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan and preparation and advanced training of operating personnel for the petrochemical industry.

The delegation familiarized themselves with the processes of SIBUR PolyLab, methods of testing end products and feedstocks, as well as visited the laboratories of the Center.

Based on the results, it was decided to review the experience of establishing and operating PolyLab as a first step in creating our own R&D center. 

It should be noted that the Center for Strategic Development and Marketing of Polymers (Project Office) was established on the basis of KMG PetroChem LLP, which focuses on promoting the processing of polymer feedstock and import substitution. One of the goals is to review the existing condition of the polymer processing market and identify key areas for its growth, which will improve the competitiveness of Kazakhstani products and meet the demand in both domestic and foreign markets.

Special attention is paid to working with Kazakhstani processing companies. It is planned to conduct site visits to the regions of Kazakhstan to present SIBUR PolyLab's capabilities and discuss ways to support polymer processing companies in Kazakhstan through the introduction of innovative technologies to create a new process grades slate.

Based on the results, it is planned to create a list of processing companies that will be invited to Skolkovo PolyLab to familiarize themselves with available customer services as a part of proposing value to the market.

 These activities will create a dialog platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, improvement of regulatory policy and state support measures, which will contribute to the development of the polymer processing industry in Kazakhstan.
