On 7 August 2020 in Nur-Sultan there was a constitutive meeting of producers and consumers of petrochemical products, which adopted a decision on the creation of the "Association of producers and consumers of petrogas-chemical products (Petrochemical Association)".

The purpose of the Association is to unite legal entities to represent common interests and promote sustainable development of the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan.

As is known, high-value-added output (4—5 transformations) production is a priority for the country’s growth and creation of new skilled jobs.

Today the production of benzene and paraxylene has been established in the republic. Large-scale projects for the production of polypropylene and polyethylene are being implemented, that will serve as a feedstock for the production of many finished products.

Considering that the petrochemical industry of Kazakhstan is at the stage of formation, there are several issues that need to be addressed today. Including development of standards for basic and final products, removal of administrative barriers preventing the import of polymers, that are not produced in Kazakhstan, and training.

Thus, the Association must ensure communication between industry actors, producers, consumers and public authorities. The founders of the Association were representatives of the petrochemical business of Kazakhstan: Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. LLP, KLPE LLP, Sapaly Technologiya LLP, Karabatan Chemical Corporation LLP, Caspio Plast LLP and Light Way Solution LLP.

Sarmurzina Raushan Gaisiyevna was elected a Chairman of the Association.

R. G. Sarmurzina is a Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Kazakhstan, and Academician of the National Academy of Natural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As the General Director of the Association was appointed Gabit Azdarovich Tolkimbayev, who held leading positions in state bodies, in the system of NC KazMunaiGas JSC, KAZENERGY Association, and in oil refineries for 15 years.
